[A sketchbook page all of one character. She is of ‘average’ build, with a long straight nose and short hair kept back (in most of the sketches) in a ponytail. The sketches show different expressions, and in the middle in a full-body sketch of her with one hand on her hip, leaning against something, and smirking. In the upper right corner, she is putting on mascara, and has her hair down. She is saying, “Now I am putting on ‘the makeups.’” The next sketch shows her turned slightly to look at the viewer sardonically, making a quotation motion with one hand; she is saying “I’m told it will help me attract a ‘mate.’”]
Just felt like drawing Liya tonight. She and her brother Hawk are an interesting duo to think about in terms of how they play off and differ from one another. He’s quicker to anger but also quicker to forgive people; she’s wittier but also doesn’t always know when to quit. He’s more mechanically inclined (anything that requires a lot of manual dexterity, he can probably learn fast and well); she’s more interested in theory and history, something Hawk finds horribly boring.
I’m having to try very hard to not have her first reaction upon meeting Numair be getting excited about how much taller she is than him.
